As the home to Ireland’s national collection of modern and contemporary art, IMMA holds more than 3,500 pieces of art from both Irish and international artists. The Collection is continually strengthened through the acquisition of new pieces (purchases, commissions, donations or loans), and strongly emphasises artwork from the 1940s to the present.

The art in IMMA’s Collection is shared with the public through the museum’s thematic exhibitions and projects, as well as rotating exhibitions which highlight the depth of the Collection. Additional pieces of artwork are displayed throughout the grounds of the museum, integrated into the formal gardens, the meadow and the medieval burial grounds.

The Collection is also available online. The digital collection lets you search for artists by name; search by title, category, medium, or year; and save items to a personal portfolio. Click here to start exploring The Collection now.
